Reinventing the nest of tables might seem an ambitious goal, but Kirsty Whyte’s Twist succeeds in putting a fresh spin on this classic space-saving concept. Not only do the solid oak tables with white powder-coated aluminium legs swivel round to form an interconnected chain, they can also be pulled apart and used separately. ‘One leg of each of the smaller tables is tubular so the leg of the larger table slides into it,’ Whyte explains. ‘I’m really interested in modular designs that have a kinetic element. I love the idea of people being able to move a product around to suit their own personal needs.’ The same theory applies to Nesting, Whyte’s other Heal’s Discoversdesign, a modular candlestick you can pull apart and reassemble to create your own customised centrepiece – an idea she came up with while playing around with OXO cubes.
